Confetti Weddings and Events is a Midlands based wedding
consultancy that offers services in weddings, civil ceremonies and
anniversaries. We aim to create wedding packages that truly reflect each
client’s individual personality, be it a traditional wedding or something a
little more different.
We specialise in those 'quirky' weddings that are maybe not all
that traditional. Whether your vision is a Harry Potter themed wedding, Game of
Thrones or Star Wars we promise to make that vision come alive.
We will offer clients services in full day wedding planning,
budget planning, answers to etiquette questions,
and referrals to suppliers such as florists, caterers and entertainers. Your
wedding is the happiest day of your life, so let us take that stress of
planning the day off your shoulders.
"From Youtube, Pinterest, Lover.ly to Instragram
and Facebook -- social media has dramatically changed how brides, mother of the
bride, mothers of the groom and Bridesmaids explore and discover ideas for
wedding planning."
As well as one on one meetings with experienced and professional wedding planners, we aim to immerse ourselves in the wedding industry with the use of social media. We aim to become the first point of call for newly engaged couples. In order to engage with the specific target audience, young, middle class couples (21-35), social media will
play a very important role in communication. Although Confetti Weddings will have a main website that will be the main
hub for information and contact details, using platforms such as Twitter,
Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest will be the main way we interact and engage
with potential clients.
Pulling in over £10 million annually, the wedding industry
is one that is yet to see an affect after the recession. There is always a
market for wedding planners as couples seek to make the happiest day of their
lives as easy and stress free as possible. While the Midlands and Birmingham does have a number of
wedding planning companies, a new and exciting company in the market spark clients’
interests in the company.
New and emerging technologies and communications will be of
great benefit to Confetti. It will
allow us the opportunity to interact with clients in ways that other companies
may not. We will be available to talk to and offer help at the touch of a
button.
The biggest weakness for Confetti
may be the saturation of the market. Whilst there are only a small number of companies
based in Birmingham, these will be heavy competition for Confetti. However I believe with our use of social media and our
creative and unique styles we can beat out the competition.
In order for this idea to become a success, Confetti Weddings and Event must maintain a professional image in the market whilst giving personalised and efficient services to our clients. It will be important to maintain excellent working relationships with vendors such as florists, hair salons and bridals shops.
In order to gain
valuable feedback about my idea, I conducted a focus group with other members
of the Enterprise module at Birmingham City University. After explaining my idea I asked members of
the focus group questions, these included:
- Would you use a wedding planning service when the time calls for
it?
- Do you think there is a market for themed weddings?
- Would you use the full service or consultancy meetings?
- Would you use social media platforms such as Pinterest and Instragram
to gather and brainstorm ideas and inspirations for your wedding day?
Through asking these questions I was able to understand how my business idea would fit into the market. It gave me the chance to narrow down my idea, which originally started a run of the mill wedding service and change into something more specific which would appeal to a niche market, those who have visions of a themed wedding.
My biggest competitor in the market is
Harmony weddings. Based in Worcester, West Midlands the company is a regional
award winner with years of experience in the industry under their belt.
Offering stylish and chic services, Harmony weddings give
clients a free consultation to discover a bride and grooms own personal style.
The company is also able to offer their services abroad and can give couples
the perfect day in the most exotic of places.
Harmony weddings will be my main competitor mainly because
we are based in the same region of the UK.
Wedding planning companies will of course all offer very similar
services to their clients therefore our services specialising in creative and
unique themed weddings will set us apart from the competition.

Now that I have an idea in place the next step for me will
be to write a detailed business plan. This plan will help me understand how my
business will come together. It will
allow me to evaluate my operations plan, financial plan and staffing plan.
Once this is complete, I will start to immerse myself in the
market. By creating a strong online presence I will be able to interact with potential
customers who may not have previously been looking for our services. As I have stated before, social media will play a very important role in the promotion
and interaction of Confetti and its’ clients.
